OK: stories depend on who tells 'em. In this case, it's being told by the
piano player, Jim Ahrend. That's me. (Someday the other two guys can tell
their own story...)
Well, once in a galaxy far, far away, there was a pianist named
Jim Ahrend (that's me), who was the musical director for a
guitarist named Esteban. In the spring of '05
the Esteban band ("Esteband" for short) needed a bassist. At the referral of
video producer
Doug Brown (an old friend of mine) we were led to
check out Mike Frost, who turned out to be an awesome
player and a hell of a nice guy to boot. Through a few TV and concert gigs, Mike and
I became good friends, and through him, I was soon to learn about his good friend
Joe Chirco. I finally met Joe one night at a place called "Port Jazz" and,
well, the rest is history. We set up a session with the three of us, and it took about
5 seconds to realize the kind of synergy that spontaneously erupted. Something was, indeed,
happening.
Suffice it to say that Mike, Joe and I have each been around the block musically,
but we feel something really special about this combination. Our goal is simple:
keep playing this energy-infused latin jazz music for everyone who wants to go there
with us. Record. Perform. And love life. Ain't that what it's all about?
And so, we look forward to soon being able to share our music through our new CD called
SYNERGY, as well as upcoming live shows.
We'd really love to keep in touch, let you know where we're playing, what we're up
to. So if your curiousity is piqued, please join our
email list so we can keep in touch.
And remember,
